While on Vacation in 2012 I did what I usually do when in new surroundings….. explore.
I was pleasantly surprised when I came upon the fishing village of Snead’s Ferry sitting on the banks of Wheeler Creek.
The more I walked around the old docks and fish houses, taking in the sights, sounds and smells, the more it became obvious I needed to capture this little slice of Coastal Life.
Being that these salty folks start their work-day before the crack of dawn made it a real challenge, after all, I was supposed to be relaxing. Over the following three days, I found myself getting up at 3am to capture shots as the crew of the Lady Ellen headed out to net their haul of shrimp.
Being that this project was completely spontaneous, I never got a chance to interview the Captain of the Ellen or Tim Millis, owner of the family’s operation. (Very Frustrating!!) Realizing, It’s a very busy place, I was happy to capture what I could.

I’d like thank the Millis fish house crew for making me feel welcome and allowing me to invade their space for a short while. Hope everyone enjoy’s a small slice of “Coastal Life”
